
The Immersive Institute is a program that facilitates professional and personal growth by combining physical and mental aspects through participation in the sport of outrigger canoeing in San Francisco Bay. The activity provides an environment that is real-world, challenging and meaningful, allowing participants to apply leadership and team building skills in sometimes unpredictable situations and applying the learnings to professional and personal life. Programs range from a few hours to full days or multiple sessions and are customized based on objectives for individuals and organizations.

The Program
The program provides a facilitated program by seasoned coaching professionals from a career and personal development perspective, combined with a sports experience to illustrate and actively engage participants in facing challenges as a team, or individually.
Program Packages offered are:
SPRINT (2-days)
Professional coaching for leadership or other objectives using various exercises and analogies of outrigger canoeing and subject matter.
LONG DISTANCE (3-months)
Participants meet weekly alternating as a group and individual coaching over a period of 3-months.
WAVECHASER (1/2 day)
This is for visitors including orientation to the sport, culture and outrigger canoeing activity.
CUSTOMIZED (varies)
Programs are tailored to the specific needs of an organization.
Immersive Institute takes great care in the provision of equipment, uniforms, safety and education about San Francisco Bay tides, currents and weather:
a) NCOCA waivers must be signed by each participant.
b) Life jackets are mandatory in the boat. Any non-swimmer must wear a life preserver.
c) A minimum of two experienced paddlers will accompany each 6-person boat, depending on the participant athletic abilities or other considerations.
d) Tides and conditions of the Bay will be reviewed in advance of the outing.
Assessment Phase may include:
1) Interviews with management
2) Interviews with team members
3) Personality Inventory (may utilize Jung-Myers-Briggs or other)
4) Determination of Objectives
